I am pleased to inform you of your appointment as a Teaching Associate at Greenland School, we are glade to offer you employment on a permanent basis. You will be teaching from grade one to three.

You are expected to report on at 9:00am for induction and orientation. You will be reporting to the principal Mrs. Woodley. You are expected to adhere and comply with the school policy and guidelines.

Your remuneration will be $1,000 per month for four units taught per day this will be paid for 12 months. Any additional unit will be paid at $100. In addition there is medical cover for self and family.

Normal working hours are from 8:00am to 4:00pm with a lunch break of 1 hour from 12:00-2:00pm depending on your classes’ timetable.

Attached are more details of employment. Your duties and responsibilities are elaborated in the attached job description which will form part of the employment contract.

Amendment and addendum of this contract shall be in writing and shall take effect as agreed by both parties.

What to include in a teacher appointment letter

A teacher can receive appointment letter either for a meeting with a parent or the school board or for employment. An appointment letter for employment purposes will include the following details:
  • Confirmation of employment and the teaching position.
  • The letter should indicate when the teacher is supposed to commence her job and to whom she/he will be reporting to.
  • Place of work especially if the institution does not have only one school.
  • Reporting time, remuneration and working hours are also included. It should contain any other benefit the teacher will receive.
  • The process of termination by either parties the employer or the teacher details should be clearly indicated.

In case the appointment letter is from a parent requesting the teacher for a meeting, the letter should entail the following:

Introduction of the parent and the student involved. The purpose for the meeting should be very clear. At times time and date of the meeting for conveniences purposes. The letter should have contact details for the parent in case the teacher would like to contact.

When to use a teacher appointment letter
