Apology Letter to Boss for Fake Documents

There can be many reasons why an employee might supply false documents to their employer. In this case, our employee supplied a fake certificate which stated that he had received training in a certain skill. While it is not devastating, such an act can destroy the trust between employer and employee.

As such, an apology letter to a boss is composed in an attempt at reconciliation.

Apology Letter for Submitting Fake Documents

Dear Ms. Richardson:

It is with the deepest regret that I apologize for providing you with false documentation during our last meeting. Please accept my deepest apologies for this error in judgement on my part. My behavior was unprofessional and lacked any form of maturity and sensibility. I am truly sorry.

I realize that I disappointed you and let you and our department down. Though I am more than capable in the arena of number crunching, providing you with false documentation that I had already attained a 6-month certificate in the topic was inexcusable. In all truth, at the time I did not see any harm in the act, as I was already fluent in the system, and just needed to prove my abilities.

I can only imagine how upset you are and take full responsibility for my actions and expect a swift reprimand. There is no excuse for leading you on like this, stating that I had indeed achieved the certificate when in fact, I did not. I relied on my life experience with the topic to push me forward, and for this I am very upset with myself and the pain I caused you, since you put your trust in me, and I betrayed that trust.

Basically, I had learned all I needed to learn from online courses and life experience. So, when I tested for the position, I passed with flying colors. However, I did not have the proper documentation, the proper certificate from an approved educational setting. Please allow me to apologize to you. I can only state that it was my extreme desire to achieve and do well that lead me to such an action

I have since spoken with the head of the department, and she has given me a warning. Based on my precise and accurate work record, she does not see the issue with not having the proper documentation. However, that does not alter the fact that I upset you and placed the trust we have in jeopardy.

If there is anything which I can to do make things right, please contact me at your earliest convenience. I will do whatever you ask in an effort to regain the trust you once had in me. My integrity is at stake, I promise you that this will never happen again.

Yours Sincerely,
