RE: Apology for missing a conference call

Dear Mr. Paul,

Allow me to express my apologies for missing the conference call you had scheduled for April 2, 2019, at noon. I’m sure you must have wondered why I was unavailable for the call.

A few minutes to the conference call, I received an emergency call from my wife about my last-born daughter who had been involved in an accident. I immediately informed my secretary to inform you as I rushed to the hospital. She’s now recuperating, and they’ve moved her from the ICU.

Please accept my apologies. I look forward to sharing my report in the next conference call. Pass my apologies to the rest.

I’m thanking you for your support and understanding.

Sincerely,

___________

Good excuses for missing a phone call

Hardly does a person fail to pick a call under normal circumstances. In most cases, you’ll find the individual had a valid reason for not picking the call. Common excuses for failing to respond to a call include:
  • I was in the shower. You might miss a call if you are in the shower bathing or relieving yourself.
  • I was in an area with poor reception/network coverage. Some remote areas have poor connectivity. In such places, you might not respond to a call.
  • It was in silent or vibration mode. When you’re in a meeting or handling tasks that need concentration, you may set your phone on silent or vibration mode. In such circumstances, it’s possible to miss a call.
  • If sick. Sicknesses and diseases are inevitable. You might find yourself unable to pick a call due to throbbing pain or any other discomfort that arises from sickness.
  • I was on another call. You might miss a call if you’re on another call.
  • When driving. If you’re driving, you may not pick a call. It’s against traffic rules to pick calls while driving since it can cause accidents.
  • I was sleeping. When you’re asleep, chances are, you may not hear your phone ringing. Same applies when you are napping.
  • Didn’t hear it ring. You can have your phone and yet fail to hear it ringing. When you’re in a noisy place, it’s possible to fail hearing your phone ringing.
  • I was assisting someone. In cases of emergencies picking calls might not be a priority. If you encounter victims in an accident, your response should be to do all you can to save their lives.
  • I lost my phone. If a thief steals your phone or it gets misplaced, there’s no way you can pick incoming calls. You’ll have to explain to your callers you lost had lost the phone.
  • I was at work. Depending on your work, the company rules might be against workers picking calls at work. Your employer might only allow you to respond to calls during breaks.
  • Battery low. If your phone runs out of power, you might be unable to pick any calls.
  • I was in class. No lecturer will allow students to pick calls in class. It’ll disrupt the learning process.
